Ambient effect pedals

PostSun Sep 14, 2008 9:16 pm

Hey guys, does anyone know of any effect pedals that create the ambient effects bands like Hammock and MM do? In the beginning of one of MM's you tube videos "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJaX8OtGmTU", greg has some effect which seems to be what I'm talking about. But I'm not sure if that effect is through a computer program or an effect pedal. Any help on this would be awesome, thanks.

It is a layer of effects not just the one pedal or effect. Personally, I can get this type of sound with lots of reverb, delay, perhaps a chorus (for added tone to the "wall" of noise), it's also possible through a guitar synth, e-bow or violin bow playing. Style of playing also effects the noise/tone, pickup selection and volume knob manipulation to create swirls/layers of noise. Best to just play around!

Reverb, Delay is all you need, overdrive or distortion is hand to have too for huge walls of fuzzed out sound.

Any pedals that do these effects will do, in fact some amps have reverb and distortion circuitry, even delay!

the beginning of that video is just a delay pedal on reverse with lots of reverb. good ambient effects can come from an e-bow or a swells from a volume pedal. basically the post rock essentials are delay and reverb.
