Talk about other bands

Six Gallery

PostThu Sep 24, 2009 4:29 pm

I discovered this tiny Ohio band ten days ago through an AbsolutePunk review where the appeal to fans of the amazing This Town Needs Guns caught my eye. And I haven't been able to stop listening to them since, Breakthroughs in Modern Art is just that good.

And since This Town Needs Guns hits home with both Mov Mou fans and the band, I'm pretty confident these guys will too. As to namedropping, they remind me of As Tall As Lions, Dallas Green, Kaki King, and even a little of our forum hosts.

Listen to their best song Built To Last on iLike or PureVolume and check out their MySpace for more, including the awesome hidden tapping track.

and now for a quick comparison...

Six Gallery - 60,000 MySpace plays; 200 Last.fm listeners

Pretty good so far. Kind of reminds me of Look Mexico or Minus the Bear.

This is real hot, I'm digging it. Don't hear TTNG tho. Noodely guitars =/= TTNG.

i've been listening to breakthroughs in modern art in pretty large amounts and i have to say this is the most readily impressed i've been with a new album in quite some time. i was expecting another run-of-the-mill math rock band but i couldn't have been further from the mark. these guys are fucking ridiculous

as of right now i think i'm gonna go out on a limb and call breakthroughs in modern art my favorite album of 2010 so far, maybe a little ways ahead of gorillaz' plastic beach. (still havent really digested circa's new one) the potential in this band is completely ridiculous
